The game is in development, pets are being added as a first stretch goal, seasonal weather enters the picture at 1.2 million and interactive instruments are in at 1.3 million. Me, that's who! I crave more boardgame conversions and I'm surely not the only person who notices that many people would love to play with card and counters more often but don't have the time to gather willing companions. #Logicbots battle android#The boardgame sequel is already on its way to Steam and Android tablets, and the inevitable stretch goals are now open, made up of reprints and expansions. The Kickstarter for Small World 2 still has seventeen days to run. The Katchup should be consumed while listening to Jolly Music.Be aware that there are several currencies in play.Projects that have reached their funding get included in the Winners list, and then aren't featured in the weeks after that, to give more attention to those that are still needing the cash.Projects asking for fifty billion dollars, with 45c in pledges, fall off the list eventually. We only include games where pledges reach developers only if the target is met.Include the word Kickstarter in the subject line too if you care about making my life even slightly easier. Leaving links in the comments is a good way to let other readers know about projects, but please email me if you want them considered for the list. Letting me know about a game (which you can do via my name at the top of this article) doesn’t mean it will definitely be included. We likely haven’t played, and as such can’t say whether it will be worth your cash. Featuring a game in this list doesn’t mean we endorse it.Then feel a bit morose that Rogue System probably isn't going to be on your computer for a long time. I'll do some individual posts on those over the next couple of days but, for now, feast your eyes on the contents of the Katchup at the breadth of gaming delights that it contains. It's a busy week and there are quite a few projects that people have contacted me about that aren't included, even though I'm interested in them. A few winners, a few losers and a heap of new entries.

DESKTOP DESTROYER GAME PATCHgave source code to a fund raising drive netted more than $7000 to jump-start Project Messerwetzer Skilled volunteers and playtesters rallied to the call a free 5MB to 6MB patch that will be finally polished and playtested. The fan community raised over $7000 for an unofficial patch development project called Projekt Messerwetzer which ultimately fixed the issues. While in 2002 Ubisoft had ended the official support, they authorized and enabled the game's community at to fix the game themselves by giving them the source code. Īfter release, instability with the multiplayer feature was found to be commonplace, yet Ubisoft never resolved this issue by releasing another official patch. Due to problems with the game a patch (ver 4.10) was released in March 2002 by the developer for download. The game was developed by the Ultimation Inc. Weaponry that can be controlled by the player are the dual purpose 5"/38 caliber gun, the 4-inch/50 SP gun, the light guns Bofors 40 mm gun and Oerlikon 20 mm cannon, 200 to 600 lb depth charges, and 21-inch torpedoes. Classes of Destroyers that can be commanded by the player are Bagley, Benham, Benson, Clemson, Farragut, Fletcher, Gleaves, Gridley, Mahan, Porter, Somers, Sims, Allen M. There are 20 predefined historical missions, for example, the ' Battle of Savo Island', additionally to some training missions, and automatically generated, customized missions. The game features two campaigns that include the entire Pacific and Atlantic warfare with 20 missions each. Players can also have the chance to choose the difficulty rating in different games by adjusting the different realism ratings. Customized missions may be played and players can select the opponent's forces and their own. The game placed the player in command of a Destroyer during World War II, featuring campaigns from both the Pacific War and the Battle of the Atlantic. As Sarge already said, though, there's no point arguing about it if that's how you see it.Īctually, with that idea, you would still need to lock it to the center. If you consider it "lazy" that a developer would come up with something, with a specific design in mind, that only really works on a controller, then I suppose that's your view to have. If you don't want to support developers that build things, on PC, for controllers, then that's all your choice. If you see that as "fake difficulty," or whatever you want to call it, then I'd advise you to stay away from games that require you to aim from point A to point B without an obvious indicator that you're doing it right. You're clicking on the thing you want to kill. To put it simply- You aren't really aiming at all. I already pointed out how aiming with a mouse, in a traditional sense, takes away most of the challenge. In that scenario, both the analog and mouse can be used as intended, and they serve the same purpose. That argument is made with shooters? Controller or mouse, you're aiming to an on-screen position. I recommend picking one up sometime- It makes so many games feel so much better. Titan souls character bow Pc#It's a problem that many games have faced before, and it's likely the main reason developers opt for building around a controller- It just feels better.Īlso, I don't know how much you've been keeping up with PC gaming, but controllers have been a pretty prominent feature in the scene for the past couple years, and with the release of Steamboxes, and the Steam Controller, its place in PC gaming is only going to become more defined. You can't hold "up" more than you're holding "right", and so you can only move/aim in 8 directions. The way it is now, both controller and keyboard function on the same set of rules, with the only difference being the binary restriction keyboard keys have. And in addition to that, it would separate the aiming and movement, making the control easier, anyway. They could've locked the mouse to the center of the screen, poll the change in position each frame, reset and it, and use that to function similar to the analog on controllers, but in my experience with building that control method, it often feels odd. To counter the "devs are too lazy" argument (Which just expresses laziness in itself, without the desire to research why there is no mouse): It would essentially change to point-and-click. There are also some progression mechanics that allow players to level up as they progress through the game.Mouse support would make the aiming much, much easier. The starring crow carries a signature sword, but there will also be other tools to overcome puzzles and exploit enemy weaknesses, such as a bow, magic, and other weapons. But it turns out that this particular soul has been taken already, and it will be the player’s task to find its whereabouts.Īs for the gameplay, it’s done with a top-down perspective, with an enchanting visual style. The trailer begins with a beautifully animated presentation of a world inhabited by crows, where the protagonist slowly makes their way to the office to collect the day’s assignment. And, while a young man would have been taught by his father, the finer points of its use would have been learned from the Maighistir Prionnsa or fencing master. Many young Irishmen practiced with the stick regularly because constant sparring was needed to improve their skills. When they were very young, Irish boys were exposed to the traditions of the ‘bata’, and when they came of age, to carry a stick was viewed as a passage into manhood. To keep the wood from splitting during the drying process, sticks were often buried in a manure pile, or smeared with butter and placed in the chimney to cure.įolklorist Padraic Colum says the shillelagh should not be considered a symbol of Ireland but a badge of honour for those who carried it. The bark is left on for added toughness and often a metal ferrule is secured at the end opposite of the knob. Because of this, it would not have been necessary to ‘load’ it as it could pack a significant whack! However, in sticks made of blackthorn, the knob was actually the root. Sometimes, the knob on the end was hollowed out and filled with molten lead. Eventually, it became synonymous for any Irish walking stick. In his book on Irish folklore, Padraic Colum quotes John Banim in this description of a mansion from his novel ‘The Croppy’: “solidly wainscoted with Shillelagh oak against which the venomous spider of England durst not affix his web.”Ĭuriously, it was from the pen of an English writer who, on seeing an oak cane and knowing where it came from, coined the term Shillelagh. Sadly, most of them were cut down and exported and, when you see how few trees remain in Ireland, there’s little comfort in knowing that many famous buildings in Western Europe were built with Irish imported oak. The forest was once famous for its massive stands of fine oaks. Known by many names, including ‘bata’ in Gaelic – which means a fighting stick – the original cane gets its name from the Shillelagh Forest in County Wicklow. Their weapon of choice would have been a cane made from oak, blackthorn, ash or holly. Very handy to have – but not something the Irish would have used at that time, or earlier. What has mistakenly been called a shillelagh all these years was once a very popular weapon in 19th-century London. In his very informative book, ‘ Things Irish’, Anthony Bluett writes that according to a leading folklore authority, the short, stubby blackthorn cudgel sold to tourists as the ‘ancient Irish shillelagh’ has no tradition in Ireland at all. The word ‘Shillelagh’ has been used and abused so much over the generations that it has become a generic term for any kind of one piece walking stick from Ireland – mostly one with a large knob type handle. So, I include here some relative reading. I am regularly asked about an Irish Shillelagh so I feel many would be interested in a little further background to the origins of the word. So Saddam was undoubtedly aware of music coming out of the U.S., and in some recorded cases he liked it. His son, the infamously unstable Uday, would edit and stream Western music and movies on a second channel, “Youth TV,” reports the Aspen Institute. “Patriotic music” was always playing on the radio, and according to PBS Frontline, Saddam would broadcast music videos nightly. Nasrat Al-Bader and many other talented musicians were once locked inside a recording studio, while bombs fell on the city, until they composed a large quota of propagandist songs to be played on national television and radio, according to Vice. But taking notes from Joseph Stalin ( his hero), Saddam weaponized his “refined” tastes by tightly controlling artistic production during his reign.Īs a musician, it was apparently a curse to catch Saddam’s ear. He forced a great Islamic calligrapher to transcribe the Qur’an, using 27 liters of his own blood.Ĭlearly he had an eye for the arts. His favorite movies were “The Godfather” (1972) and “The Old Man and the Sea” (1958).it is at least coherent, so kudos to Saddam for that.”) I did not have to look very hard to learn a few surprising facts about Saddam Hussein: Despite the horror of his regime, persistent rumors circulate about the more human moments of his life - his family dynamics, his tastes in poetry and literature, his beverage of choice and his lavish palaces that dot the landscape from Tikrit to Bahgdad.Īpproaching the Osmond rumor from the outside, one must first ask if this leader was a fan of Western music generally, and more specifically, Osmondmania. Movie about saddam hussein capture trial#Army custody, had a very public trial and was sentenced to death by hanging, which took place three years after his capture, per CNN. Bush addressed the nation after Saddam was captured in December 2003, pulled from a hole in the ground near a farmhouse outside the city of Tikrit - “I have a message for the Iraqi people: You will not have to fear the rule of Saddam Hussein ever again.” State Department, his regime “systematically executed, tortured, imprisoned, raped, terrorized and repressed Iraqi people.” He was the first leader to use chemical weapons on his own, killing 30,000 citizens with mustard gas and nerve agents.įormer President George W. Saddam is one of the more notorious figures in history. But two levels of separation remained between me and the truth - Merrill’s attorneys and the CIA. So there it was, straight from an Osmond’s mouth. When asked whether or not Saddam really owned Osmonds records, Merrill chuckled and said, “The CIA told our attorneys at the time, that they had found our records in a vault underneath one of (Saddam’s) palaces.” “We had to seriously discuss whether we would continue to do what we were doing,” he said, talking about the threats to his family. I spoke with Merrill Osmond about all these stories, and he stood by every last one of them. The Osmonds were allegedly deputized and moved into the Riveria apartments in Provo, Utah, after the Symbionese Liberation Army, a domestic terrorist group from Berkeley, California, threatened to kill off every band member individually. “When the military caught Saddam Hussein, they discovered he had a complete collection of Osmonds records.” Chuck Norris supposedly taught them Tang Soo Do (a Korean martial art) which they used in much of their choreography afterward. People say they were friends with Elvis, the Jackson 5, Frank Sinatra and the Bee Gees. There are many wild myths that have swirled around the Osmonds. It might be factual but there is no reliable source that we’re aware of.” His publicist’s response was cryptic: “We can confirm that this is something we/Team Donny have been told to be true.” But when pressed for source details, the publicist said, “No one is sure of the origin. Donny performed with his brothers before going solo and earning his own place in the echelons of celebrity (featured in “Start the Par-dee” with rapper Lil Yachty). The first to respond to my inquiries about the story was Donny Osmond’s publicist. Merrill Osmond, the lead vocalist/bassist in the group, gave a one-sentence account: “When the military caught Saddam Hussein,” he said, “they discovered he had a complete collection of Osmonds records.” Surely a story like this would be documented on the internet, I naively thought, but was able to find only a brief mention in an old interview from The Guardian. David Argue and the rest of the cast spout constant nonsense. Doctor (played by the film’s director) makes an “aids free” clone of himself for some reason and later feeds the clone’s decapitated head to zombies. Actors change in and out of silly costumes. There’s impromptu songs and dance numbers. I don’t know anything about director Haydn Keenan, but I’d imagine that last one is at least partially true. It’s like a loon with a theatrical background was given a bunch of money and a lot of drugs and complete creative freedom. Or a Zucker Brothers film without comprehensible jokes and with more fake motorised penises. It’s like an art film directed by Lloyd Kaufman. I fell asleep a few times from exhaustion and woke up a confused, sweaty mess. It’s so chaotic that it’s actually difficult to watch. Pandemonium certainly lives up to its title. The few characters that don’t want to fuck the Dingo Girl want her dead. Even Little Adolph (Ashley Grenville) - heir to the next phase of the Nazi regime who happens to have a nose that constantly expands like a demented Pinocchio - is being groomed to marry her. From her lecherous filmmaking stepfather (Esben Storm) to an accountant who is transformed into a small-dicked ape-man (Pete Smith), Dingo Girl can’t escape the grabbing hands of the sex-obsessed tenants. Pretty much everyone in the apartment block wants to have sex with the virginal Dingo Girl. The Dingo Girl’s hunt takes her to the apartment block owned by her evil mother (Arna-Maria Winchester). She may also be the second coming of Christ. Raised by dingos, she’s in search of her real family who abandoned her, believing her to be dead. The film centres on a big-boobed, attractive and usually naked girl known as the Dingo Girl (Amanda Dole, a Playboy Playmate of the 80s). With its intensely insane scripting, it’s difficult to put the plot down in words. Pandemonium is well-suited to a man of Argue’s talents because, like him, it is completely fucking mad. Argue plays two characters in Pandemonium - the protagonistic narrator (a confusingly posh-speaking property building surveyor called Kales Leadingham), and a horny dingo-man who spits out the line, “I’ll do you, cunt”, at one point. He even wrote a movie where he plays himself, acting alongside his mother (it’s called The Argues: The Movie (2010) and I desperately need to see it). Argue never fails to deliver an obnoxiously loud performance, shouting things like “Aww poo!” or hurling racial abuse at Carl Weathers. Oh no! Oh yes! David Argue, for those who are unaware, is one of Australian cinema’s most fascinating oddballs. It’s a title screen that made my brain scream, “Oh no!” and “Oh yes!” simultaneously. Pandemonium opens with one of the most terrifying title screens in Australian cinema history. The final Grateful Dead performance of the song was in July 1995. It then disappeared again until February 1979 when it returned to a regular position in the repertoire. After the group hiatus in 1975 China Cat did not return to the repertoire until December 1977 for a single outing. From then on it was played regularly through to October 1974. It's good that a few things in this world are clear to all of us.Ĭhina Cat Sunflower was first performed by the Grateful Dead in January 1968. People seem to know exactly what I'm talking about. In his book of lyrics, Box Of Rain Hunter's comment for China Cat Sunflower is Nobody ever asked me the meaning of this song. I'd have to admit that - before you could trace it back. I liked the idea of quick, clicky assonance and alliteration like 'See me dance the polka, said My Wag, like a bear, with my top hat and my whiskers, that tra-la-la trapped affair.' I just liked the way she put things together. It was originally inspired by Dame Edith Sitwell, who had a way with words. In an interview, with Blair Jackson, Hunter commented on the writing of the song I wrote it in different settings and added this and that to it. I wrote Alligator and China Cat Sunflower, and I knew they had a rock 'n' roll band so I mailed them up. He spoke about sending the lyrics to the group in an interview: I moved out to New Mexico to be an artist about the time the Dead really started. China Cat Sunflower was one of the first two lyrics provided by Robert Hunter for the Dead. |
